Hello Ann, The scenario you describe happens to me, also, from time-to-time.
However, this almost never happens as I have continued to practice the time tap gesture. Also, be aware that you can immediately silence VoiceOver by placing your palm over the watch face. I don't know if VoiceOver speech can be muted on the watch, however.
