Yes, but at least for the Echo it is amazing how often it does listen when 2 or 3 people are talking and it thinks it heard "Alexa". Not sure if you have an Echo device, but the theory here may sound better than the reality. At my store I changed the wake word to "Echo" because one of my employees is called "Alex" and more often than not the Echo started listening if I picked up the Intercom in the office, dialed the extension of the phone by the till and called out "Alex" or "Hey Alex" or if I started right out saying "Alex can you check with Big Rock and find out if they have a left handed Ruger in 300 Win" where Big Rock is one of our suppliers for firearms. Next thing I hear the Echo saying "Sorry, I don't know what you mean by "Can you check with Big Rock..." and it goes on to repeat exactly what I said which obviously means it listened as soon as I said "Alex". Then again if I deliberately try by saying something like "Alex what is the time" instead of "Alexa what is the time" it doesn't react. "Hey SIRI" is a much more distinctive wake word as is "OK Google" or "Cortana". I wish Amazon would add some more optional and rare wake words or even better they would figure out a way where you could record your own wake word.
