Hi Mary. I have been using the freestyle libre system for about six weeks now. I can tell you that the app is very accessible. The reader is not accessible. However, if using the iPhone running IOS version I believe 7 or above, you don’t need the reader. Everything can be done directly from the app. This includes activating the sensor. I did not even purchase the reader. At the moment, I am paying for it myself. I am appealing to my health insurance provider hoping that they will reconsider my prior authorization request. I will stop now, but let me just say that it has been a real game changer for me when it comes to me getting control of my glucose, A1C.
