I was going to give the same answer. I have an XR, but same deal. A quick press of the power button on the side. That said, I prefer to use a tactile means of checking the time to not bug my wife if I just want to know what time it is. In the past, I've repurposed a cheap analog clock you can buy from any Walmart or Target or whatever by popping out the front plastic face and marking it up like any braille watch. This works well enough, but often these things are so cheaply made, the clock hands eventually fall off regardless of how careful you may be when checking the time. I recently grabbed myself a Bradley Element tactile watch and now use this to check the time in the middle of the night. These aren't cheap watches, but I wanted a watch that wasn't a smartwatch anyway and now it doubles as a nightstand clock for me too. I believe Apple watches have the ability to check the time via vibration patterns. I'm not interested in an Apple watch so haven't really followed these types of threads so don't recall if it's a built in function of the watch or perhaps through a third party app. I've tried more standard fair braille watches from the typical blindness related stores and have found them to generally be poorly made and with not so attractive designs. They usually break within six months for me. I'm not aware of any sort of app that can give the time in a vibrating/muted pattern, but it would be helpful to have something like this on the phone and not just the watch.

My phone is usually locked in if I hit the power button, that gives me the time. If the iPhone X has the same power button on the side, I would think that would work. Certainly, those who have an iPhone X will comment on this for you. Good luck.
