Has anyhone got to play with that app? If so, I'd be very interested. We went Freeview as the Cable box wouldn't work for us and we were so annoyed at the time that we couldn't have the features everyone else has.

I don't know how accessible it is, but TiVo already has an iPhone app. I
haven't used it much yet, but it seems to be accessible so far. How
would this app compare to what TiVo already has? I've also seen apps for
home theater systems from Yamaha, Pioneer, Denon and Onkyo. Again, I
don't know how accessible these apps are. These apps all talk to network
capable devices over the local network. I'm all for this effort. I just
wonder how it compares to what's already available.

Hi Kevin

We can get it to work with TiVo and SKy right now, working on BT cable
and Freeview.
Freeview will be the trickiest one in the UK which as I said is our
first market.

Do you currently own or use an IR device to connect your iphone to other
components in your house?
Would you purchase one if the mobile app needed it?

If I understand you correctly, if you connect directly to the box in
question, it will only work with boxes that allow this.
This is likely a small number.
Besides, there are many other devices people might wish to control
from blu-ray players to surround sound receivers.

So, you would be happier if it worked via an IRtrans hub and
        controlled more devices.

Our current design will not require additional IR support,
because we will be connecting directly to the cable boxes via
        your home's wifi / router.

Would having IR signal and requiring a dongle or trans hub be
more practical for you than a mobile app that talks to all cable
        boxes via your home's wifi.

As most appliances operated by remote control use IR to communicate;

I personally prefer a networked transmitter that does not attach to
        any IOS device.
