Joshua,

I strongly encourage you to give your iPhone more time. These devices have
quite a steep learning curve and require a great deal of practice. It is very
easy to become extremely frustrated because the on screen keyboard is not at
all intuitive for someone with a visual impairment and it seems at first as if
every screen wants some sort of keyboard input. You should invest some time
practicing on screen input and make sure you understand the different typing
styles. I'd recommend you set touch typing where you slide your finger over the
keys and when you hear the one you want, you lift your finger and it's input.
You will be able to do so much more with an iPhone than with any old style flip
phone and iPhones are here to stay. I hope you'll practice some before throwing
in the towel.
