That was a recent update. The update primarily helped the document channel, but it may have changed how far you have to hold the camera for the short text channel. I personally have not noticed any difference, short text has always worked well for me. Other channels still seem to work alright but short text for me as I said is almost unresponsive. Is it just me? I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app with no impact. As a result I find myself using other tools for the task which is why I often have multiple apps that accomplish similar tasks as one never knows when an app will decide not to play nice.
