Hi Marie,

To power off the Apple watch you press the side button, that is the flat button 
below the digital crown.
Hold it for about 2 or 3 seconds and  you feel the watch vibrate, Voiceover 
usually says “Cancel” on my series 2 watch since that is what has focus. If you 
swipe right once you should be on Power Off.
Visually there are 4 buttons on the screen: Cancel, Power Off, medical Id and 
Emergency S O S.
They seem to be arranged vertically with Cancel on the top, Power off a bit 
below that, then medical Id and near the bottom edge is the Emergency SOS which 
will call 9 1 1.

Before doing a forced restart the way Jenny described,  you should simply try 
to turn it off, wait 30 seconds and turn it back on.

Try holding both buttons on the side down for approximately 30 or 40 seconds. 
That will reset the watch.
