Susie, do you press Home Button to get to App Center? It is launched when you do that, then three-finger scroll up closes each program that is open.

Are you thinking of It will open Control Center if you touch the status bar first. Control Center is where you can adjust settings like Wi-Fi and Airplane Mode, control media, and turn on things like Do Not Disturb and Lock Rotation. I hope that's of some help.
