OK, you were in the edit field of a text message, and obviously it was editing,
so you could use the Braille input.
Have you changed the appearance in messages and made all those other things
like photos, stickers, etc., hidden?
That sometimes masks the keyboard, even though it is still there.
After the camera button in messages, there is a button that says, Apps, if
hints are on, it will say if they are visible or hidden.
If you double tap that, and those things are on the screen, they will vanish,
leaving plenty of room for the keyboard.
HTH,

Richard

Richard, when this happens, I'm miles away from my brailleEdge. That's how I
know it's happening. When it happened on Monday, I was in a doctor's waiting
room and the BrailleEdge was miles away, back home in my apartment. I needed
the qwerty keyboard to send a text and when I opened the message, the keyboard
was nowhere to be seen, and, fortunately, I was able to use the braille input
keyboard. So I'm really doing nothing out of the ordinary at all. Yesterday
when it happened, the braille device was at home, and turned off, and I was 3
floors down.

What are you doing exactly when this happens?
I've never had the keyboard disappear without having a bluetooth keyboard
nearby that connects.

Hello Listers,

On Monday, Anna Dresner helped me resolve the disappearing keyboard issue I was
experiencing when away from my BrailleEdge by using the device with the
spacebar plus dots 146. This should say ”show keyboard”. But this doesn’t
solve the problem if it happens when the BrailleEdge is at home, and I’m
somewhere else. The latest updates are giving our phones minds of their own.
Or so it would seem. The disappearing keyboard happened to me again yesterday.
It’s back now only because I brought it back when I had my device in my hands.
 What else might I try?

Peace & Blessings,
