Hi Sieghard and all.
Thanks for all that wonderful information. All I need is a simple something that I can open, tap on record and stop it when the meeting is over. The recording doesn’t need to be professional quality as it’s going to be used for reference when writing minutes. If voice memos is the easiest, then I will continue to use it. I am using 13.3 on my iPhone so I’m up to date. Nothing seems to be simple these days. The other issue is large files are not easy to send. Providers don’t like them. I don’t have or need a drop box. I created an account a long time ago but got stopped by the captia with no alternative characters to type. I am totally blind so that finished the account. I never bothered to ask a friend to deal with the not accessible captia. I will find something easy to use I’m sure. Again, thanks for the help. The only feature where I could see why somebody may want to use a third party app is if you want your voice memos to sync to Dropbox. Apart from that I find the voice memos app about as easy as they get, but if you want Dropbox syncing then an app called RecUp <https://apps.apple.com/us/app/recup-record-to-the-cloud/id416288287> may be what you want, I think it’s $1.99 in the US and it’s also a very simple app which you can set to start recording when you open it or you can start recording manually. There is no editing capability and it hasn’t been updated in over a year which may or may not become an issue with future iOS versions if the developer has decided to abandon it. You can click on the link I provided to check it out. If you want even more features there is Just Press Record <https://apps.apple.com/us/app/just-press-record/id1033342465> which is $4.99 in the US app store. It will not sync to Dropbox, but you can set it up to sync to iCloud Drive and if you need access to your recordings on a PC you could install the iCloud for Windows app which will create an iCloud Drive folder and you can then find your recordings in there, but only in WAV or MP4, looks like recording in MP3 format is no tan option. The advantage with this app is that there is also an Apple Watch version for those who have one of those and the app can transcribe a recording to text, but of course this is subject to voice recognition and we all know how good or not good this can be in some situations. I never tried it, but some of the reviews mention it’s not so great. But the developer of Just Press Record seems to be more active, they have a number of other apps and it was just updated a couple of weeks ago. It does, however, mentions iOS 13 as a requirement. Maybe that is just for some features and maybe it can still be installed on a phone with iOS 12, not sure about that. There are of course any number of other voice recording apps, you may want to check the Applevis website <http://www.applevis.com/> for reviews/tutorials. Thanks for the warm welcome to the list. I am Secretary of 2 amateur radio clubs and would like suggestions as to the best iPhone app for recording meetings. I am currently using voice memos for the job but there has to be an easier app. I also record for the Library for the Blind Advisory Committee Secretary. Thanks in advance and have a great day.
