The Secretary of the Library Advisory Committee has a flip phone so I email her my recordings. The files are huge. One was 44 megs. She has a gmail address and managed to get the stuff to her but I don’t remember how I did it. I’ll figure it out after the next meeting. I should write the procedure down to reference. In settings, Voice Memos, if you have location based naming on, it will use your location for the initial name. The issue with sending large audio files is why having something like Dropbox setup so you could share the recording from there if you need to have someone else access the recording. Most internet service providers won't let you send attachments over 5MB though a few have increased that to 10 MB The downside to Voice Memos, is you cannot use the two finger double tap to start and stop playback within the app, which would make transcribing much easier. Another free app to try that gives excellent recording quality is Dolby ON. You can save to DropBox in M4a format, I don’t think MP3 is an option. After you record a track, you can rename it, then double tap on share, then on More audio apps, then save to Dropbox is one of the choices. It will not sync to Dropbox, but you can set it up to sync to iCloud Drive and if you need access to your recordings on a PC you could install the iCloud for Windows app which will create an iCloud Drive folder and you can then find your recordings in there, but only in WAV or MP4, looks like recording in MP3 format is no tan option. The advantage with this app is that there is also an Apple Watch version for those who have one of those and the app can transcribe a recording to text, but of course this is subject to voice recognition and we all know how good or not good this can be in some situations. I never tried it, but some of the reviews mention it’s not so great. But the developer of Just Press Record seems to be more active, they have a number of other apps and it was just updated a couple of weeks ago. It does, however, mentions iOS 13 as a requirement. Maybe that is just for some features and maybe it can still be installed on a phone with iOS 12, not sure about that.
