Technically, the SE first generation and second generation take the same size SIM card. However, the new SIM cards are much faster, so Apple recommends getting a new SIM card with the new phone. I was told by an Apple staff person that I could set up the new phone with the old SE SIM, but should then get a new SIM card as the performance will be much better. And, the new SE is a Dual SIM phone; as in one physical SIM and one eSIM just like the 11 and xs/xr phones if your carrier supports the eSIM.
