I am learning German via the Duo Lingo app and need to use umlauts. I don't know anything about Spanish but assume the same method applies. So, If I want an a umlaut, I tap the letter a and keep my finger there, first it offers some words but then it offers symbols and I slide my finger to the right until I hear the a umlaut but there are other offerings so maybe Spanish may be one of them. In German I have a umlaut, a double s sign which is called something like shafess s, an o and a u umlaut, and this method works for all of them, except with the o and u umlauts I have to slide my finger to the left rather than the right. Hope this works for you. Initially it is a bit of a faff, but you soon get used to it. Alison
