I'm glad bonnie remember to point out the water issue. There are slits for the external microphones, two of which are on the tops of the ear pieces. That would be a recipe for disaster. If you have Apple Care, they may fix them once, but I would never take them outside unless I was just sitting on our patio on a clear day.
