Hay Siri can be helpful to her, Kate, but you will have to go to Siri in Settings and set that up for her. She will need to respond to five prompts, so that Siri will recognize her voice. It is a great thing. I keep my phone nearby when taking a shower, with the idea that if I should have an emergency, I can say, Hay Siri, call Jim or Hay Siri, call 911. It can be used that way.

The tripple press of the home button is only in effect when the phone has been turned on for the first time. If it's already been set up, then the user would go to settings/accessibility/accessibility shortcut and select VoiceOver to configure this. After that, then use the tripple press of the home button to turn on VoiceOver. My contact information is in the signature line.
