You can't just say Hey Google or Okay Google from within the app? I can't if the assistant is still giving information, but once it is no longer speaking, I can say either of those, then I hear the beep, and then I can ask further questions. I'm thinking that perhaps I couldn't do this at one time for some reason, but I am able to do so now. I'm not using a Siri shortcut, though, as I either find the app and go into it directly or just ask Siri to launch it for me. I can also find the mic button and double tap it, but I'm usually too lazy to do that.
