They don't hav eto back up your music if it is music available via Apple Music, but they should backup the state of the flag which indicates whether a track or album is downloaded to your device and when you restore then any music you had previously downloaded should also get downloaded again without a lengthy manual process. Anyways, it seems that with Quick Transfer any music you had downloaded is transferred to your new device so that would definitely be the way to go.
