Mich,

I had posted a message with an article from iPhoneInCanada which contained a
link as to how to do this using the website called "Grassroots", but when I
just Googled this to find it again I found a new article which indicates that
Ontario has now moved to using a so-called "verifiable health record" which can
be directly scanned and added to the wallet. Here is the article:

Ontario Now Supports iOS 15 COVID-19 Vaccination Cards | How It
Works<https://www.idropnews.com/news/ontario-now-supports-ios-15-covid-19-vaccination-cards-how-it-works/170662/>

If you have your vaccination card with the QR code on the computer you can scan
it directly from the screen, just open the file on the computer and instead of
using the camera app I recommend using the Code Scanner feature which is part
of Control Centre because it automatically recognizes the QR code and the
message to add it to Health app and the Apple Wallet will pop up. If you use
the camera you still have to tap a button to capture the QR code once the
camera sees it, however, it does tell you when it sees it so you can try it
either way, but that should be all there is to it. I don't know how you obtain
the vaccine passport in the first place, but it could be possible I guess that
if you had it for a while and it was since updated you may have to redownload
it, here in British Columbia we have a website called Health Gateway and all
you have to do to get the vaccine passport is to click the link for it and then
enter your BC Medical Id, your birth date and either the date when you received
your first or second shot as verification. Then the card is displayed and you
can download it, open or print it and then scan the QR code. I already had mine
on the computer so it literally took me less than a minute to open the file,
walk up to my laptop, open Code Scanner from Control Centre and slowly move the
phone across the screen from left to right, once I got towards the right side
it recognized the QR code, a screen popped up with a button asking if I wanted
to add it to Apple Wallet and the Health app and I tapped on that and it was
done.

there was no qr coad on it. I also tried to upload the pdf files of each of my
vaxseen sertiffickits that I have on my phone and those didn’t work eather even
though there was a qr coad on at least one of those as well as the papor option
one of them had a qr coad. Does any one have any ideas how elts I can do this?
Many thanks. From Mich Verrier from New Liskeard Ontario Canada.

Subject: Adding COVID-19 vaccination passport to Apple Wallet in iOS 15.1

Hello Fazil,

I started a new thread here because this has nothing to do with reading
character by character.

No, you can't upload the file as far as I know, the QR code on the card has to
be scanned and at least I found the only way to do this is to display the card
on a second screen or to have a print out.
When I did mine I displayed it on my laptop screen and used the Code Scanner
option, when I then added my wife's on her phone I decided to try a different
approach and I printed out her vaccine passport and used the camera app.

In my opinion using Code Scanner is easier because it captures the code
automatically as soon as it sees it whereas with the camera app Voiceover told
me a QR code was present, but I then realized after nothing happened that there
was a button which I think was labelled "Capture QR Code" and I had to tap
that. But once I did it also worked.

If you want to use Code Scanner this is not an app per say, you have to access
it via the Control Centre similar to how you access the Flashlight which is
also not an app but a feature.
This means you may have to add it to the Control Panel because I can't remember
if it is there by default. I would first bring up Control Centre and check, if
it is not there go to Settings > Control Centre, look for it under the "More
Controls" heading and then double tap on where it says "Insert Code Scanner".

Regardless whether you use Code Scanner or the Camera app, once the QR code is
recognized a message pops up asking if you want to add the card to Apple Wallet
and Health, just tap Add and you are done; it's super simple.

Keep in mind that here in Canada this works with vaccination passports from BC
and a few other provinces whose cards meet the standard which Apple required
for this.
If you are in Ontario and a province where this is not the case it won't work,
but for Ontario there is a third-party work-around, I had posted the link for
that in the article from iPhoneInCanada where I first read that this should be
easy to do if you are in British Columbia.
