If I want to re-read a BARD book, I just download it again from BARD. Am I missing something here? Just curious.

That's the point when it comes to bard books. You can either stream or download audible books, however, you can't do that with bard books. The only place you can keep your bard mobile books is on your iPhone. I really hope that will change. I hate the thought of all my downloaded books only on one device not backed up. Of course, I always make sure my bard book is backed up to my external hard drive. However, I have to redownload that book again to my external hard drive if the only copy of the book is on my iPhone. Of course, I have to make sure my external hard drive is also backed up in case something goes wrong with my drive. It is very interesting about these new iPhones that will be coming in future. You can just do so much cool stuff with them.
