First, Apple Watch questions are definitely on topic for this list, so feel 
free to ask away!

Second, to turn the watch off, just hold the long button on the right side 
until you feel a haptic feedback, at this time, a pop up will be on the screen. 
Just swipe to power off and double tap.

Third, You can check your Apple Watch battery's charge level in several places:
1. Swipe up on the watch face to open Control Center and see the battery 
percentage.
2. On some watch faces, you can add a battery complication.
3. On your iPhone, you can add a battery widget to show any connected Apple 
Watch.
