I agree no one should have to pay just to have access to some calendar functions on your phone, and no one has to since the native calendar app is free. I also don't have a problem with a developer coming up with an app, any app including a calendar app, that has a unique set of features that they think people would be willing to pay for. Put it out there, and if they're right then people will pay for those features and more power to them! 😉

Try out a calendar and se which one you like best. You may prefer the native calendar for your use case. If there was a way I could have a list of appointments for a given day along with the month displayed in the native calendar, I would probably go back to that since it has improved. But I don't like the number of double taps into a day and then back out of the day's list to get back to the month view.
