The 14 Pro actually does use the A16 chip whereas the iPhone 13 Pro (and all
other iPhone 13) use the A15.
It is the regular iPhone 14 and 14 Plus which use the same A15 chip as your
iPhone 13 Pro.
I think personally upgrading from a 13 Pro to a 14 Pro is a complete waste of
money, but it's your money I guess. With a 1-year old 13 Pro you should still
get great battery life and while Apple has maybe increased the battery size in
the 14 Pro by a bit and they always say the new phones get better battery life,
I really can't see it making a difference worth spending hundreds of Dollars to
upgrade.
I have an iPhone 11 and I won't even upgrade, my battery capacity is getting
down there so at best I'll spend whatever it costs here in Canada to put a new
battery into my iPhone 11. Otherwise my iPhone 11 works great, yes, I don't
have the LiDAR sensor or MagSafe, but given that next year's iPhone 15 will
have a USB-C charging port I'll wait and of course it will have other
improvements, one according to the rumours maybe the fact that next year's A17
chip which will be in the 15 Pro will most likely be based on 2 Nanometer
architecture which may result in a much bigger improvement between this year's
A16 and next year's A17 than what you get if you upgrade from last year's A15
to this year's A16. In fact, the speed advantage is so small even in the
benchmark tests that you would never notice a real world difference.

Subject: advise on updating phone.

Hi all,
have a 13 pro currently.
Am thinking to update to a 14 pro max for better battery life.
Sales guy says if I update to a 14 pro I should get better battery life than
the 13 pro since the tests Apple run are in a controled environment.
I doubt this.
>From what I gather the 14 pro plus isn't an update to the 13 pro max since it
>still uses the same chip and not the updated one.

Thoughts?
TIA.
