I also agree with Chris. I understand the desire to be able to manage all content using your iDevice but I'm not convinced it will ever be totally practical for those of us dependent on VoiceOver and accessibility.

Personally, when I got my first iPhone in 2013, Dropbox was the cloud service I found most supported by the apps I used and it also gave me the best bridge between files on my computer and iPhone. I decided long ago that the price of the Dropbox Plus account was well worth it and I haven't looked back.

I'll close by confessing that I will always prefer doing any serious editing on my computer with a full sized keyboard so I'll never be using my iPhone for Word or Excel editing.

Hi Kay,

Well, getting files to your iPhone is not a difficult one.  You could simply use one of the cloud storage programs / apps, like Dropbox, One Drive, or Google Drive.  I personally use Dropbox, and this allows me to access any of my files on both my computer or iPhone.

Now as far as editing files on your iPhone, this first depends on what type of files you will be editing.  If they are MS Office files like Word or Excel, I will tell you that this can not be done as easily as it is done on your computer.  Word was not the most accessible on the iPhone, but I have not used it for a while, so do not know if it has gotten any better.  And Excel, because of the screen size, is very slow and tedious to use.  On my phone, I mainly use txt or RTF file formats when writing.  And using Mark Down can be handy when needed.

If you are going to be doing a lot of editing and writing, I would probably recommend some type of keyboard.  there are many out there, so it is really depending on what you prefer to use.  You can use a regular blue tooth keyboard, or you could use something like the Orbit Writer or Hable keyboard.  Again, this comes down to preference.

As far as what apps to use, well, again, this will depend on what type of files you will be working with.  As far as editors there are lots out there, and everybody has there favorite.  there's Voice Dream Writer, Drafts, 1Writer, and of coarse Notes.

I hope this has been helpful and at least gives you a starting point.

Chris

Here is my great conundrum.  I do so much with my iPhone and I am sure there is an answer to this.  I have a bunch of files on my computer, but I want to know if there is a good way to either put them on my iPhone and have total access to them using whatever app.  Or can I load them on to a hard drive and access them from my iPhone somehow?  I want to be able to edit them and everything I can do with my computer.  My ultimate goal would be to move away from using the computer as much as possible and just using the iPhone.  If anyone can tell me if this is possible and how I might go about doing this, I'd really appreciate the input.  Thanks much.
