I never knew about not releasing the button until through speaking. I do guess
at when to ask Siri, because I cannot hear the signal that they have now. My
guess rate is quite satisfactory; it has surprised me.

If using the home button or side button you absolutely have to wait for the
tone before speaking. And don't release the button until you are done speaking.

If using Hey Siri you don't have to wait.

I've had no problems with Siri and opening any app including BARD Mobile.
I'd begin suspecting the microphone.

However, some times when asking an informational question, I will get strange
responses. But that is the exception rather than the rule.

Yeah, I think several of us have seen her not understand us. For me it started
with one of the IOS 16.1 versions. I upgraded to IOS 16.2 hoping for better
results. Jury is still out on that. I find that it works better if I wait a
tad longer after pressing my home button and hearing the tone

Sometimes I just don’t understand what Siri is doing. I just asked Siri to
“open bard Mobile“. This is a command I use a lot and I really never had a
problem with it until now. Upon issuing this command, I heard Siri respond you
don’t have anyone named Howard in your contacts. That is just about the dumbest
thing I’ve seen Siri do recently, and there have been a lot of similar
stupidity‘s on series part. I just don’t get it. Regular dictation seems quite
accurate. But interacting with Siri to get Siri to do something on the device?
Oh, brother! It’s like Forrest Gump’s box of chocolates. You never know what
you’re going to get.
I will say, however, that the only problem I seem to be having with dictation
these days is Siri putting periods where they do not be long. Apparently, Siri
thinks that any sort of complex sentence needs to be broken up even if it
really is a perfectly good sentence, and does not need To be broken up.
