It turned out the volume on Siri and dictation had been turned down for some ungodly reason. We figured that out on a call with Apple Accessibility.  I also made note to them the dislike of the new Siri tone, and also some fiddly behavior I’ve seen since 16.2 in the Weather app with the location chooser and location list, namely focus problems.

Yes, and dictation using Siri from the home screen  with 16 no longer works with any consistency on my SE 2020. I like simple and don’t always feel like being inside the Message  App dictating  in the edit field. That function works well, but what is the point of using Siri if you can’t use it more on the fly?

All I get is the text and a listen button that does noting for my purposes. I have not found any setting to remedy this though I may have gotten some pointers here in thepast many weeks, all of which I tried.  Usually Only occasionally do I get a prompting to send., Voice over is quite fickle and I do not use a Bluetooth keyboard, even though I have one. I much prefer using my old out  of  service 6S that does not have 16 on it, for daily  texting. It still allows me to dictate and add text without losing it, and I mean from the home screen, not from within the message app. I do an awful lot of texting each day.

I still can’t figure out how to get rid of the double notifications. I used to only get my remindersand notifications at the appointed hour and those were settings done in notifications. With 16 I now have those alerts as well as messages in the “notification center.” No matter if it  is on or off, it still gives me those alerts and hangs onto them until I clear them. I never used to have to do that.

I do not know what phone I might even want once the SE dies, and that is too bad because I am glued to my phone as is. It’s fortunate that the apps I use work fine.

For a while now, when I say "Hey Siri," there is no tone; just Siri saying "ah huh"

It says it fairly quietly.

I only get the new, quieter, tone if I hold in the button.

Both Apple and Windows seem to think everyone has super hearing the way their tones have lowered in volume.

Bill, is it possible that volume on Siri is turned down?  I've already given feedback to Apple that I cannot hear that first tone very well, especially with any background noise.

Good morning.
For about the last day I have not had my Siri and dictation tones for some reason. Dictation works but I cannot get acknowledgement Siri heard me say Hey Siri.
That’s the only thing that seems amiss in a major way with my iPhone 8 Plus running iOS 16.2 Checked the settings I could think of and restarted the phone.  All other sounds are fine.
