Hello Debbie, You are quite welcome.
It took me a while to get used to the Click Wheel swipe gestures. When they stopped working after the update, with VO enabled that is, I was truly upset as I have come to really enjoy the ease of motion and lack of finger fatigue that the feature facilitates. As you say, it is a matter of personal choice. I remember, when Apple TV was first introduced, I thought it little more than a toy. Now, many years later and now that I've cut the proverbial cord, I have come to depend upon Apple TV more than I would have thought possible. I thought I would miss my cable TV service but, thanks to Apple providing the hardware, via Apple TV, and Google providing the streaming software, via Youtube TV, I can't say that I notice much of a difference, whatsoever. Actually, now that I give it some serious thought, I definitely prefer my current setup more than I ever enjoyed my cable service. I believe I did disable that function because it seemed too sensitive to me and I'd [personally rather press down on the wheel than just swipe. Pressing down is a little more like double tapping but that's just me! Debbie -----Original Message----- From: viphone@googlegroups.com <viphone@googlegroups.com> On Behalf Of M. The click & touch option, the default option, allows one to navigate the UI by simply single-finger swiping up, down, left, and right, on the Click Wheel in order to move focus. This is a Siri remote feature, not a VoiceOver feature that can be configured in the Remotes & Devices area of the Settings menu. Disabling this option means that one has to actually press down on the Siri remote Click Wheel in order to move focus in any of the 4 directions, listed above. I'm probably using it and don't know it! Thank you! Debbie -----Original Message----- From: viphone@googlegroups.com <viphone@googlegroups.com> On Behalf Of M. Taylor Sent: Saturday, January 28, 2023 9:07 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Scenario: Mark's VoiceOver Experience Updating Apple HD to tvOS 16.3 Hello Everyone, The following scenario took place earlier this week. 1. On Thursday, updated Apple TV HD (with first generation Siri remote) and Apple TV 4K, first gen, to tvOS 16.3. 2. After updating Apple TV HD (with Siri remote) to tvOS 16.3, discovered that VoiceOver click & touch navigation was broken. After doing some troubleshooting with list member Ed, managed to get feature working but not consistently. When feature did work, display UI was choppy. After updating Apple TV 4k (first gen) to tvOS 16.3, VoiceOver click & touch navigation functioned as expected 3. On Friday morning, checked for update on Apple TV HD and got the message that the device was up to date wit the latest software. 4. Went to Apple and purchased Apple TV 4k (third gen), 128GB (with Ethernet port). 5. Installed and setup Apple TV 4k (third gen). 6. After updating Apple TV 4k (third gen) to tvOS 16.3, VoiceOver click & touch navigation functioned as expected. 7. Decided to reset Apple TV HD back to factory defaults before permanently removing it from my network. During the reset process, was told that the unit would be updated to the latest software version. This took quite a bit of time, more than usual. 8. After Apple TV HD was successfully reset, I began the installation software setup process, as if I were going to add the device back to my network. As you can guess, after the reset and subsequent software update, VoiceOver click & touch navigation functioned as expected. The End.
