Modern lithium batteries actually do not have to be fully discharged or almost fully, in fact, the recommendation is to not do this and to charge when you get down to between 40% and 20% and to then charge to between 80% and 100%; it's totally fine to unplug your iPhone from the charger when it's at 89% or 93% or whatever.
