I recently restored my iPhone back to factory settings. I was able to get everything back by backing everything up to the cloud and then restoring it. Apple provides a temporary increase in iCloud storage to support things like this or setting up a new phone.
There's also Quick Start which transfers everything over via Bluetooth.
