On my SE 2nd gen it often happens to me when the phone is sitting on a desk or something and I am not even near the phone.  I haven't observed this yet on IOS 17.6 but am watching for it. :)


Also, when this does happen it isn't as dramatic as when the proximity sensor kicks in, it is more of a 20% or so drop.

Ios17.6 doesn't stop drop in volume. If I start listening to the BBC Sounds app or a podcast, the volume drops after a few minutes. The solution is to lock the screen - and the volume jumps back up!

Usually, coming out of the current app, solves the problem, but as it doesn't go completely silent, I usually just turn up the volume until normal services resume.

Recently my iPhone suddenly drops in volume, especially when using Duo Lingo, a language learning app.

I’m pretty sure it isn’t a Voiceover issue and if I turn up the volume via the phone’s switch, then the volume increases and then later, I have to turn it back down when normal volume resumes.
