Unless it has changed, Apple gives you a free 1 year warranty on every device.
The The difference is that Apple care usually gives you a more extensive
coverage.

When it comes to comparing Best buy coverage to Apple coverage, I would say the
difference will be in the details and small print. I would recommend looking
at 2 things:
1, What each exactly covers; for example, Apple Care usually covers screen
cracks and breaks, water damage, and a new battery once your battery health
drops to a particular point.
2, What steps are involved in activating the coverage and getting your phone
fixed or replaced? Can you get a replacement the same day by going into the
store, or do you have to send your phone away and wait for its return?

Depending on the answers to these questions, will depend on what you decide.
But it is important that you know the details of your coverage so you will know
what to expect if something happens.

Hope this helps.
