If you are in edit mode and hearing anything but edit mode, or editing, etc., then you may not quite be in the edit field. Did you try moving left with the lef arrow after QuickNav was off. If it doesn't press the left and right arrow keys together. If you are not hearing it say anything about QuickNav it is because a setting got changed. Go to settings, Accessibility, VoiceOver, Verbosity, and the 7th item in that menu is QuickNav announcements. It seems to default to silent or maybe a tone, I don't remember, but I always set it to speak so there is no doubt when QuckNav is on or off.
