Will do. I also downloaded the google calendar on my work iphone and I'm having
the same issue. I googled this problem and I see that there are others who have
reported having this same problem going back as far as 2022 from what I could
find.

There has not been a definitive answer as to why this is happening and no one
has been able to provide a fix for it. I think you're correct in that it seems
to be a bug of some kind that hasn't been resolved. I do however thank you for
providing some trouble shooting options or tips that I hadn't thought about
trying.

Shawnese,

That is the more useful of the two answers, and it closes off the easy
explanation for good.

A different date every time means nothing is pulling the view to a fixed point.
No stuck date, no event sitting back there, no saved spot. The app isn't
holding a date. It's failing to settle on one. It comes up somewhere in your
past and where it lands is wherever it happened to land that time. That's
behaviour inside the app as it starts, and it isn't a setting, which is exactly
why your pass through all of them turned up nothing. Stop looking for something
you changed. There's nothing there to find.

Which makes the browser test the whole question now, and it's the one piece I
still don't have. If that same account opens on today in a browser, your
calendar is fine and the fault is that one app on that one phone, and that's a
bug to report rather than a setting to change. If the browser does it too, the
account is in it and that's a different conversation.

Worth knowing either way: the iPhone's own Calendar app will show this same
Google account, same events, nothing to move over. So you aren't stuck with the
app that can't settle. I won't guess you through adding it, somebody here will
give you that part exactly.

When you get a minute at a computer, open that calendar in a browser and tell
me what date it comes up on.

Shawnese,

That settles it, and it settles it against me. A reinstall takes everything the
app was remembering with it. If the fault came back anyway then it was never
remembered position, and I shouldn't have told you it was. Scratch that whole
answer.

Here's what it does tell you though, and it's worth more than my first guess
was. Nothing on your phone is carrying this. A fresh install starts with
nothing, so either that date is coming down with your account, or the app is
working it out wrong the same way every time it starts. Either way, stop
hunting for what changed on the phone. There's nothing there to find.

That leaves two things to separate and one free test does it. Open that same
Google calendar somewhere that isn't your iPhone, in a browser on a computer or
on any other device you've got signed in. If it lands on today there, the
problem lives in that one app on that one phone. If it lands months back there
too, the account is doing it and the app is only showing you what it's handed.

One more thing that'll narrow it fast. Notice whether it's the same date every
single time, or a different one each time you open it. Same date every time
means something sitting at that date is pulling the view back to it, and that's
findable. A different date each time is a different animal.

I'd rather be wrong out loud than leave you chasing a setting that was never
there.

Is it the same date every time, or does it move?

Hi even after a fresh start it still goes back to a previous date. I have even
deleted the app completely and reinstalled it and the same behavior continues.
It hasn't always been this way and I cannot figure out when it started
happening what changed to cause it. I'll keep trying to figure it out.

Thanks

Shawnese,

Nothing in your settings is going to explain this, and that is why checking
them all came up empty. The calendar is not working out which date to show you.
It is putting you back on the last date you were looking at. Position is
something the app remembers, not a preference it offers, so there is no switch
for it anywhere.

What makes it feel constant is that going into an app is usually not the same
as starting it. If Google Calendar is still sitting in the background, opening
it resumes it, and resuming puts you back exactly where you left off, right
down to the date. Only a fresh start has any reason to land on today. So some
months ago you scrolled back to find something, and it has been handing you
that spot ever since.

The test is free and it names no setting. Close Google Calendar out of the app
switcher so it has to start over, then open it. If it comes up on today,
nothing is broken, and what you have been doing all along is resuming it rather
than opening it.

If it still comes up months back after a genuine fresh start, that is a
different problem. It means the app is holding on to a saved state it should
have let go of. Your events live in your Google account and not on the phone,
so removing the app and putting it back costs you a sign in and nothing else.

Which one does it do after a fresh start, today or the old date?

Hello I'm having issues with the google calendar and this didn't start with the
newest IOS update. Whenever I go into the calendar it is always on a previous
date that is usually months back. I have to click on the button that says go to
today. This started happening a few months ago and I'm not sure why. I have
checked all of my settings and everything seems to be ok.

If anyone has any suggestions of how I can rectify this please let me know.

Thanks
