Hello Aser and others,

I seem to be able to flick up and down with one finger when focus is on the
time elapsed readout and, as you previously said, only if playback is
paused. Make sure you are on the time readout that shows how much has played
of the particular chapter which is followed by "adjustable", the time
remaining readout does not say adjustable.

There is also an item in the Settings which allows you to set the jump
interval to either 30 seconds (default), 60 seconds and 90 seconds. This was
there in the old version, too, but in the old version as in the new changing
it to 60 seconds doesn't seem to make any difference and it still jumps in
30 second intervals.

I just wrote a fairly comprehensive email to the email address they list in
the app in Settings, Help and "Feedback". For those who would like to add
their voice to mine, here is the email:

audible-iphone-feedb...@audible.com

Below is the email I sent to Audible, feel free to use all or parts of it if
you want to write to them. I'm sure I didn't mention all of what could be
improved, but I tried to include those things I find most important and to
me right now that would be better options for navigation inside a chapter
and by chapter, the fact that it is not indicated which chapter is currently
playing in the listing of chapters in the "Chapters and Bookmarks" area and
as you can see I also mentioned that it would be really nice if they
enhanced the features of the sleep timer by providing a warning tone before
it reaches 0 and a way to reset it similar to how the iTired app works.

But let's not forget that all of these are missing features and not
accessibility issues as such except maybe for high-speed scrubbing which I
will ask a sighted friend to check if that works without Voiceover. I think
the app is much improved and I love the fact you can now download all parts
of a book with one double tap and also delete an entire book all at once.
OK, here is that email:

Subject: FW: The new Audible app

Hello,

I am a blind iPhone user and use VoiceOver. I am also a very frequent user
of audible. I just downloaded the new version of the Audible app and would
like to congratulate you on Some very nice improvements. The ability to
delete books all at once without having to start to play each part and
deleting all the parts of a book separately is really a huge improvement.
However, there are. Also a few areas where I thing functionality was taken
away. Mostly this is with playback controls.

I used to be Able to easily jump forward or backward by chapter and I don't
see this at All Anymore. There is also no easy way to quickly move around in
a chapter, e.g. by having access to a high-speed scrubbing function. There
is still the Jump Back button which jumps back by 30 seconds, but I don't
see an equivalent control to go forward and flicking up or down on the
"Elapsed Time" control which is adjustable only works if I pause the book,
at least it does if Voiceover is enabled.

Furthermore, changing the jump amount from 30 seconds to 60 seconds in the
Settings does not seem to have any effect. I did this but if I use the Jump
Back button and look at the time read out it still jumps back only by 30
second intervals.

Lastly, I am disappointed the Sleep Timer function was not enhanced by
including some sort of option that would notify the listener with a discrete
audible tone that the sleep timer was about to reach 0 maybe 10 or 20
seconds before and that one could then reset the timer to the selected time
by touching the screen, pushing on a volume button or any such action that
indicates the listener is still awake and alert. Separate apps with such
functionality exist, however, they unfortunately only work if I playback via
the built-in music app and a more advanced sleep timer would really be
appreciated by myself and many other users of your app I spoke with.

It would also be extremely useful if Voiceover would announce which chapter
is currently playing in the "Chapters and Bookmarks" area. Right now it
simply lists all chapters in the particular part of a book starting with 1
and their total time. However, it does not actually say what chapter of the
book that is and if, for example, I am currently playing chapter 8 of 20
chapters in a part, Voiceover does not indicate in any way that this is the
currently playing chapter when I flick through the list. It should say
"selected" or "currently playing" and provide the remaining play time in
addition to the total play time of the chapter.

Overall I think the changes are good, but you really need to put back more
functionality to control playback, jump by chapter without having to go into
the "Chapters and Bookmarks" section and also add a high-speed scrubbing
feature which allows for larger jumps and quicker movement along the
timeline. Needless to say, any of these features needs to be Voiceover
accessible.

Lastly, it would be fantastic if the app would display the total number of
books/titles in my Audible library. I can see all the books, but have no
easy way to find out how many are in my library.

Regards,

Sieghard
