If the price were $100 for three years, I'd buy it. If it were one year, I'd
sadly have to forgo what would probably be a well-designed app.

If you missed my original post on this topic, 1. it has not been released
and there is no projected date, it could be soon or it could be months yet.
2. Mike May stated at CSUN yesterday that the price would likely be around
$100 and he wasn't sure if that would be for one year or up to three years
of access, or what.

Has the Sendero app been released yet or are we still just speculating on
it's price and functionality?

As with all of these discussions, everyone can obviously have an opinion,
but each person needs to decide for themselves if the feature set is worth
the price or not. Sure, you may get close to this feature set with multiple
apps, but someone is perfectly free to decide to pay a bit more not to have
to learn and juggle multiple apps.

I like the statement "I by no means condemn those of you who have the money
to waste on this type of business plan." On one hand he's saying he isn't
condemning anyone but on the other hand he's saying anyone who does buy this
product is wasting their money. I would claim that it's up to each person to
decide if this is a waste of their money or not, and no one else can make
that decision for any one else.

the developer of the seeing eye app charging fees every year or every three
years. If the developer went to a one time pricing model, it would have to
price the app higher to recover its development costs. It would then face
the same kind of criticism from our community for selling an app that the
community believes is over priced. It is a damned if you do, damned if you
don't scenario.

Seeing Eye from a company called Sendero. I pay $100 for the app. time goes
by. Lets say for the sake of argument that its 3 years later. In the interim
I have lost my job, the stock market has crashed and the bank has taken my
house back. I have a job interview and want to use this app to find my way
to it. I turn it on and low and behold they want another $100 in order for
me to use it. In other words I have rented the app for 3 years and now its
useless to me. To my small mind this is not good business. I would go so far
as to call it extortion. If I am going to pay that high a price for
something I damned well want to own it.
