If you pause too long between words, siri will stop listening. I find that when
I hold the home button down for siri, then say something like, " text Neal."
wait for her to say, what would you like to say to Neal?
Find the edit box, just a little higher than center, and double tap. This will
bring you to the message app, then dictate it that way.
I fins that siri doesn't rush me, and she does a much better job of
understanding what I'm saying.

The other problem I have with Siri, is that she will cut me off after three or
four words, and then tell me try again. Or she can't send the message. There's
been a problem. It's never says what the problem is. This is new with the iOS
newest upgrade to iOS six point whatever the new one is. On my iPhone five.

OK, I have a theory, When I dictate email or text messages to Siri, I often
hear her say something like, Can you ask me that in fewer words? I wonder if
the new OS has a problem in that Siri is now confused about sending a message
versus asking her a question. One would not ask a question in long text, so if
she thinks I am asking a question when I am actually dictating the body of an
email message, she would not like that if she thought I was simply asking a
question. I wonder if the programmers blew it, or if this is a planned change,
If it is. I know I can go into the message and tap dictate, but is much more
time consuming than what I used to do when Siri excepted longer message text.

I dont know what you mean, speaking in lines versus speaking in words. I speak
in sentences. It has worked nicely up to this point. So, there has been a
change here.

Hello Neil, I think that we just need to speak in lines. In order to make this
thing work because I send another message. To the original poster Mistleoe I'll
go and see if she was speaking in words. We need to go to the store or stuff
like that.

OK, We need to contact Apple about this. I and others have this very problem. I
cannot send a message over a couple sentences. I get these silly messages which
someone at apple thinks is cute, and it wont send either the message or the

Siri to give me look for being too long, even with punctuation. She began
rambling about some story regarding her grandmother and her mother and her
daughter and how I should ask a shorter question next time. Was pretty
hilarious. But annoying.

Marissa, Do use punctuation? I wonder if you say period, etc. after each
sentence, if this would be better. Perhaps you already do that. I do, and I so
far dont have this problem. Now watch, the next time I use Siri, she will give
me some lip for being too long.

Hello Melissa, have you tried saying line per line like small lines, for
example. Hello Joe

Dear list,

I use siri frequently on my Iphone 4s and i have noticed that I cannot send
lengthy texts, as I used to be able to . I know siri has a limit as to how much
can be spoken but something weird is going on example to follow:

Siri send text to Jill

"What would you like to say to jill?"

Me dictating to Siri :"Hey Jill how are you" What are you up to I will call you
later to talk about the baseball game and we need to get together for lunch."

Siri replies "easy there Marissa can you ask that question again but shorter?"
or wow that's a lot of words or some quote about Thomas Jefferson. This usually
happens when dictating texts that are lengthy, I called Apple and they said
nothing is wrong with my phone that its just siri being siri I guess they have
done "internal updates to her" on their end. Anyone think I should go to apple
and have them look at the phone anyway? this just started happening just
recently?

Thanks
