Well, you have a history of using awful speech. Some of thos old
models were truly bad and Eloquence always sounded muddy to me. Crank
it up to a decent speed and it seemed to become one giant syllable.

I'm not saying people don't have a legitimate complaint about the HQ
voices, but I think a lot of it is what you get used to. For example, I
just switched from Eloquence to eSpeak on my PC's. It took a while, but
I'm now comfortable with eSpeak. I remember the transition over the
years from the Echo PC to the Accent SA to Keynote Gold to the DECTalk
Express and then into the software synthesizers like Eloquence and now
eSpeak.
