Those aren't Kindle books. The Kindle app will read mobi. I do it all of
the time. Kindle uses azw and azw3.

My Kindle books are inside my documents folder, in a folder also named, My
Kindle Content.
You can rename the book files such as,
B00C4ZHD0O_EBOK.azw
to,
Sully Street B00C4ZHD0O_EBOK.azw
If I open that file the Kindle for PC reader will be launched and the book
title will be on the screen.
Then I just hit control plus r to read the book or space bar to stop.
