Hello, At the top of the screne is a Castle Buildings button. If you click on that you should get an upgrade button next to each of your buildings in the main screne of the castle. You need to click on those buttons to upgrade your buildings and people (such as your lumberjack.) You cannot upgrade from within the buildings themselves. These buttons will be grayed-out (say dimmed after the button name) if you do not have enough resources to upgrade that item.
