Hi, I called Apple yesterday because I have an Apple care support plan, and because I was having the same problem you had. They said that the servers were just very busy sometimes you could download the update, but then it would not verify and install because the activation servers were busy. So just keep trying, and you will be able to get it even without iTunes. I did. God bless, Wren
