Hi Annie, I guess, all the people who are blind from birth who did learn to use the Optacon had to learn print block letters and script. The people who had access to raised line drawing on machines like the Thermoform and others. I think most totally blind people from birth did learn how to sign their name but, that only covers very few letters of the alphabet.
There are only 26 letters in the print alphabet so, I would think you could learn quite quickly if you contacted a group who do raised line drawing on that plastic paper. What I'm wondering is if IOS 7 will accept all capital block letters. If it does, there are only 26 letters to learn. As for the letters where you have to lift your finger, they are drawn with one finger and they planned the swiping to be done with 2 fingers so timing is probably the key.
