You can double-tap on the forward or back button to move 5 seconds at a time.
You can place focus on either the forward or back buttons then triple tap to move 20 seconds at a time. There are many other ways to move around a book including chapters, sections, bookmarks, etc. There's lots of good info in section 6 of the user guide. This is a pretty sweet app, and the little problem I've noticed doesn't do anything to take away from my opinion.
