Actually, on my iPod Touch 5th gen, after pressing the power button or the
home button, if I leave it like that, my iPod will shut down in about a
second or two. This is exactly the way is was in IOS6.

To actually be placed on the home screen, I have to press the Sleep/power
then perform a double swipe using the 3-finger gesture.

For whatever reason, when I turn my device on, if I only perform a single
3-finger swipe to the right, the iPod won't do anything. It isn't till I
perform the second 3-finger swipe to the right where I am taken to my home
screen.
