Hi Christopher and Joseph, Joseph is right, if you want to close a lot of apps flicking up or down to Delete and then split tapping is the way to go. However, you don't have to do a double tap and hold as Joseph describes. Once you flick down to Delete, you can just move your finger to find the first app next to where it says Home in the app switcher, then leave your finger there and don't move it. With another finger start split tapping the screen, it's very fast and works well.

After bringing up the App Switcher, swipe right once to move focus to the first app in the App Switcher and now just use a three finger swipe up until all of the apps are gone. Alternatively, after moving focus to the first app, do a flick up or down so you hear "Close whatever app" and then just keep double tapping until all of the apps are removed.
