Hi all, thanks for the replies.

Lol, first of all, I'm soooooooooo glad to hear about the speaker issue not 
existing in the 5s.  It is driving me nuts in my 4s.

Verizon may have sim cards now, because of the 4g/lte.  I saw it mentioned in 
my shipping details.  Hopefully, it is pre-installed.

The instructions I found on the web say I need to call a number to activate 
4g/lte on my account.

We'll see, I'm sure it'll all be easy once started.
