When I upgraded from my 4 to a 5s with AT&T, sense I was happy with my plan, I just kept it and extended it for another 2 years. With the get a new phone every year thing, you have to be careful of the gotcha. It takes 20 months to pay off the phone completely. So get a new phone after 12 months and guess what? What remains gets dumped on top of what you now have to pay off with the new phone. I think you can only do it twice until the oldest phone gets paid off. On the other hand, plans in the US change often so stick around. If the plan you have doesn't meet your needs a new one will be coming out shortly. Sense I had completed my contract with AT&T for my 4, it's now mine all mine. Well, it's been mine all mine sense last May.

Hi Katey,

Yes, this seems to be universal and there is no good fix. Apparently
resetting all settings fixes it until you accidently go below 35% again.
Let's hope Apple will fix this properly in the next update, I suggest you
write to accessibil...@apple.com and add your voice to those who have
already written.

By the way, AT&T and other carriers who offer these annual upgrades are
totally hosing people. You would be much better off trying to find a MVNO
where you pay $30 a month less and to buy an unlocked phone outright from
Apple. I know in the States they don't offer them right away, but you should
be able to get one soon. I am in Canada and I now pay just over $50 for
unlimited phone calls in Canada, unlimited texts including Canada and the
States and 2 Gb of data, also call display and voice mail, visual voice mail costs me an extra $2. Getting the same from one of the large carriers would
cost me a good $30 a month more, so over 24 months the math is simple,
approx $700 to $750. Add to that the cost of whichever iPhone you get and
you would actually save a bit buying it at full price and you would not have
a contract, if I find something better or maybe there is another promo at
Christmas I can just sign up for it.

Sieghard

Thanks all, I decided to go ahead, as my contract was up -- I went to AT&T
and hopefully I should get it this weekend, as they were out of stock.

I also went with their new program "Next" so I'm paying (over time) for the phone and this allows me to be able to get a new phone next year if I want.

Of course, if I don't like it for whatever reason I can always return it and
go back to my 4s.

I will admit that I turned on VO on the 5s they had on display, and I put
volume in the roter and I tried turnning up the volume to 100% and it would only go to 90%. Then I went below 35% and I wasn't able to get above that!

Does this effect everyone? How do you fix this? I know easy is to not use
the volume in the roter! Any other ideas?

I upgraded only because my contract was up. I don't see that much

of opinion. I agree that either way is fine. I have not tried the
fingerprint feature so cannot comment on that.

Katie I really think if you are happy with your 4s stick with it.
Don't just upgrade because it's the latest and greatest. I say do
whatever's best for you. I have a 4s and love it and don't intend to
upgrade.

Hello All,

I've heard some of the problems some of you have had with the iPhone
5s, namely if you turn the volume in the rotor lower than 35% it
won't go higher and of course some fingerprint reader issues.

Does this effect everyone? Do you regret updating? Since the last
iOS update my 4s seems more stable, no hypersensitivity issues and
the phone after it rings stays in the ear piece.

I realize the iOS will definately be faster, so what do you think?
