You are right for the system flash, but the light in this app is different. I mean, it still enables the LED, but it is within the app itself. In the top right of the screen, just below the status bar, is a control called "light off". Double tap that to turn the light on or off. It turns off after a successfull scan, so you'll have to turn it back on when you start each new scan if the lighting is bad where you are.
