Thanks, Ed. I had a look at this speaker and found th emanual which showed
slightly different dimensions than Amazon. I just measured my original
Jambox as a comparison and the Philips speaker is about an inch and a half
shorter, it's about half an inch taller and more or less the same thickness.
The difference in length is about 25% shorter, but the weight is shown only
as 120 grams whereas the Jambox weighs almost 350 grams, so almost 3 times
as much.

In conclusion I would say the size is such that the Philips could be used as
a portable speaker mounted on a backpack strap or so, but it's too big and
heavy to be clipped on a piece of clothing.

It also only has 1.2 Watts output power and there is no volume control on
the speaker, you have to change the volume using the iPhone's volume buttons
and it's also only Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, not Bluetooth 3.0 let alone 4.0.

It's inexpensive, but I think I will continue to keep watch for something
truly small and of clip-on size. Failing that I will, at some point in Q2 of
this year, hopefully get my Soundband headset which is probably a much
better solution anyways.

Best regards,

Sieghard

Hello Sieghard,

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner on this speaker. The speaker is a
Philips Bluetooth speaker sbt10whi/37. I have used it since X-mas on my
iPad and it works very well. It does have a microphone and buttons on it to
use with the iPhone for phone calls. It has a very good bass sound. I
purchase mine from Walmart for around $19.95 at Christmas time. . There is
a little rubber tab out the side where you could put a clip on it to fasten
to your collar.

Below is a link for the speaker on Amazon

Subject: Extremely small, clip-on bluetooth speaker

Hello,

Ed (Pinky) recently mentioned a small Bluetooth speaker which he said was
from Philips and which apparently is small enough and comes with a clip so
it could be clipped to the strap of a backpack or maybe even a coat.

I just search Amazon as well as Google for such an item and could not find
anything. If you see this message, Ed, or if somebody else knows of an item
like this I'd appreciate an exact model name and, if possible, a link for
it. I think this could be a nice way to use a GPS app without having to use
a headset or an earpiece, sort of like the idea of the small speaker which
comes with a Trekker. Bluetooth of course would be ideal.

Regards,

Sieghard
