Hi,

I think the writer wrote him instead of Home. So you would open Control Center 
by touching above the Home button and sliding your finger upward. I find the 
status bar method is more reliable.

To make the phone switch orientation, turn it so a short end is toward the top 
if you want portrait, or a long end if you want landscape. Lay it flat, and 
then tilt the screen toward you until the screen is perpendicular to the floor. 
The orientation should shift. Note that the orientation is always in landscape 
on the home screens, however, and in some apps it is locked to either portrait 
or landscape.
