To send a message, you can go into the Messages app and double tap on the
compose button at the top
of the screen. If you go into your Contacts app, you can also select a contact
and send a message
from there. There are probably other ways to do this as well.

I'm not sure what you're asking when you ask about where to swipe on the screen
after editing.

getting used to. Two of the options you'll hear are characters and words. Once
you've selected one
of these two options in the roter you can then move through your message by
character or word by
flicking up and down. Now you can insert and delete text.

I'd say it's more than a few millimeters, but you'll know if you get it right,
since you'll jump to
the next object. If you don't move your finger enough then it'll just act as a
single tap and just
select the object immediately under your finger.
